This secondment opportunity to lead Defra’s Civil Society team has been withdrawn. This is in response to a government-wide freeze on recruitment included in the package of spending cuts announced by the Treasury on Monday (24/5/10). The freeze on external recruitment is one of a number of financial disciplines imposed by the Treasury and with which all Government departments must comply.
However, the post will remain and will be filled internally. We will keep you posted on developments through this blog.

Defra values its relationships with the Third Sector and is committed to work to maintain and improve these on an on-going basis. Defra launched its Third Sector Strategy in November 2008 and recruited a secondee to lead Defra’s Third Sector team. This post will become vacant shortly and we are seeking to engage another secondee.
This opportunity comes at a key stage in Defra’s Strategy Programme as we adapt our Third Sector strategy and our recent ‘Shaping our future’ report to the needs of the incoming government and continue to contribute to the achievement of Defra’s overall mission.
The secondment will provide the successful candidate with a range of engagement opportunities across the Department at all levels, with our delivery bodies and with other Government Departments.
